Taxis have a dedicated rank directly outside both terminals, and a pre-booked driver can meet you inside arrivals. Ride-hailing pick-ups at BCN are handled in designated areas that have moved more than once, and finding the right one with luggage after a long flight is an unwelcome puzzle.
This is also where surge is most likely to bite, because arrivals cluster. Several hundred people wanting a car in the same ten minutes is precisely the condition dynamic pricing responds to.
What each is actually good for
Ride-hailing suits a short, off-peak city hop when you want to pay in the app and never think about it again.
A licensed taxi suits anything where the price mattering, the car definitely turning up, or the driver knowing the city is important — airport and cruise transfers, early departures, intercity runs, or travelling with children who need proper seats.
And if what you actually want is a known price agreed in advance with a named driver, that is a pre-booked taxi, not an app.
